Updates and April 15th Meeting (speeches)

What we've been up to/ what you've missed:

March 4th - We supported Women's Herstory Month by attending their opening kickoff event at the breezeway outside the Atrium!

March 11th- Discussed our upcoming events, including "Dating Queer in a Straight World", with Professor Maya Poran on March 12th. This event proved to be a very stimulating conversation topic and got a great turnout.

March 25th- This day saw our attendance at the event we co-sponsored with Ramapo SAFE, FemU and the Women's Center, featuring speaker Princess Kali.

April 1st- Our meeting focused on a discussion on our upcoming event Diversity Dance, and was cut short by a fire alarm :(

April 8th- this meeting was reserved for nominations for next year's (Fall 2013-Spring 2014) Pride Executive Board. (Starred individuals needed to accept their nomination). The results were:

President: Matty B., Eden, Mary, Erin
Vice President: Erin, Matty B., Mary
Secretary: Matty B., Eden, Becky
Treasurer: Erin, Codi*, Becky
Publicist: Matty B., Eden, Vanna*
SGA Delegate: Codi*, Becky, Vanna*

April 15th: Today we will be focusing on hearing what the nominees have to offer! Each nominee in attendance will have the opportunity to tell us a bit about themselves and their experiences which make them good candidates for election. Afterward, polls will be open until some time next week (TBA).

On April 18th, the Ramapo community is encouraged to speak out (rather than remain silent) against discrimination by proclaiming their alliance with commonly marginalized groups.

4/21- Ramapo Pride Hike- join us at 1 pm at the Arch for a hike to the Ramapo Reservation!

About Me

My photo
Mahwah, NJ, United States
Ramapo Pride provides a safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and questioning (LGBTIQQ) students and allies. Our organization is built around providing activist and educational programming, but also providing a social network for LGBTIQQ students on campus. It holds weekly meetings and organizes social, educational and activist programs for the campus at large. Ramapo Pride meets weekly in C220 at 1 p.m. on Mondays. Our hour long meetings give the members a chance to talk about up and coming events (both on- and off-campus) as well as develop programs and activities that will bring the organization's goals into effect. Meetings also give the opportunity for members to discuss issues that are affecting the LGBTIQQ community both on- and off-campus.
